Biography

Born in 1980 in Paris.

After studying music and training as a classical guitarist at the Nancy Conservatory in the late 1990s, Nicolas Lamoureux turned to his other passions: visual arts, film, animation, and architecture. He worked as a 3D graphic designer in Paris for about ten years on feature films, commercials, animated films, and architectural renderings. During this time, he returned to playing classical guitar and developed a keen interest in the great masters of lutherie through collectors, books, concerts, and recordings. This led him to become particularly interested in certain iconic guitars and the alchemy that gives these instruments such a strong sonic character. Driven by a sense of challenge and curiosity, he built his first instrument, the quality of which motivated him to persevere. Encouraged and advised by figures such as Dominique Field and Thomas Norwood, he left Paris and established himself as a luthier in Corrèze, in central France, in 2017. From the beginning, he has developed a personal style and made replicas of historical instruments. He is particularly interested in the work of the founding luthiers of a French school of lutherie: Robert Bouchet, Daniel Friederich and Dominique Field, and also in the work of René Lacote, a great Parisian luthier of the Romantic period.
